Bruce Michael Parney, a beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away on May 14, 2025, in Holland, Michigan, at the age of 71. Born on March 4, 1954, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bruce embodied kindness, warmth, and a passion for service throughout his life.
Bruce dedicated himself to a fruitful career in customer service at Meijer, where he took on various roles such as Lot Attendant and responsibilities in Janitorial services. His friendly demeanor and willingness to help made him a cherished figure for both colleagues and customers alike.
The heart of Bruce's life was undoubtedly his loving marriage to his wife, Carol Lynn (Van Hoven) Parney, with whom he shared 30 years of devotion—31 years would have been celebrated in September. Their bond was characterized by love and mutual respect, with Bruce often reflecting on the conscious care he provided for Carol, which formed an integral part of their relationship.
Bruce was an attentive and caring individual who, while not having children of his own, always held a special place for the children around him. His affection was deeply reflected in his daily devotion to Toby, his beloved Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. Toby was not just a pet for Bruce, but a companion who brought immense joy to his life.
An avid camper, Bruce spent every summer for the last 30 years at Chapel in the Pines Family Campground in Hudsonville, Michigan. It became a deep rooted tradition for him, fostering memories of laughter, friendship, and connection with nature.
Bruce’s education at Ottawa Area Center School laid the foundation for a life marked by service, humility, and faith. He devoted many years as a Deacon at the Holland Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served his community with selflessness and love.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol; siblings Rose, Pat, Tom, and Gary; his dear brother-in-law & sister-in-law; Robert and Darlene (Van Hoven) Huckabay; brother-in-law Aaron Van Hoven; and his closest friends, Ken and Mary Baron. He is predeceased by his father Donald W. Parney, mother Lucielle Parney (Brummelhoff), and siblings Alan and Judy.
Bruce Michael Parney was more than just a name; he was a beacon of kindness and warmth to all who knew him, leaving a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories. His spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
No services are scheduled at this time, but Bruce’s kindness and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holland Adventist Academy, 11385 E Ottogan St, Holland, MI 49423, honoring his legacy in a way that uplifts future generations.
