Brenda Jewel Bunch, 79, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, in Goshen, Indiana. She was born on February 16, 1947, in Goshen, Indiana, and spent her life surrounded by the people, places, and values that shaped her into the remarkable woman her family knew and loved.

Brenda grew up in Goshen, where she attended school and built lifelong friendships. She was raised alongside her sister, Vickie, and stepbrother, Bill Lehman. She shared a close bond with her mother, Ruby, and stepfather, Bill Lehman, and remained especially close to her father, Charles Swoveland, throughout her life.

Those who knew Brenda would describe her as strong, caring, and thoughtful. She appreciated order and routine and found comfort in the simple things in life. More importantly, she was a source of comfort to everyone around her. Brenda embodied the spirit of unconditional, motherly love and had a gift for touching the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.

Brenda began her working years alongside her father at Bristol Pipe. Throughout her career, she became known for her organizational skills and willingness to help others, often planning company events and gatherings. She also spent a year living in California, where she worked as a typist for MGM Studios, an experience she always remembered fondly. Later in life, she made the decision to devote herself fully to her family, staying home to raise her daughter with her beloved husband, Kent Bunch.

Family was at the center of Brenda’s world. She volunteered her time with her daughter’s activities, including school band events, always eager to support and encourage. She was a loving wife and devoted mother whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved. Brenda leaves behind her loving husband, Kent Bunch; her daughter, Ashley (Matthew) Bryant; and her three cherished grandchildren, Mylah, Liam, and Oliver, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Brenda enjoyed dancing at Shoeless, listening to music, and relaxing with some of her favorite television shows, including Cheers, MASH*, and Blue Bloods. Her grandchildren and pets brought immeasurable happiness to her life and filled many of her days with laughter and love.

For more than forty years, Brenda courageously faced Multiple Sclerosis. Though the disease presented many challenges, she met them with strength, determination, and grace, never allowing it to define who she was.

Brenda lived by a simple but meaningful philosophy: “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” It was advice she not only shared but practiced throughout her life.

She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, simplicity, and the love she freely gave to her family and friends. Her memory will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched and the lessons she taught through her example.

Brenda’s family finds comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, compassion, and devotion will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life honoring Brenda will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 22045 County Road 18, Goshen, Indiana 46528. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.
