Blanche "GG" Kaye Ryan, of Jackson passed away at home peacefully with family by her side on June 12, 2026 at the age of 85.

Blanche was born on June 12, 1941 to Claude and Katherine (Crawford) Smith of Cheboygan, Michigan. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, James Ryan; sister, Barbara Kelly; and sons, Jeffrey Hastings and Richard (Tammy) Hastings.

Blanche is survived by her siblings, Ed (Lori) Defrain, Karen Warner and Kris (Bill) Murray. She is also survived by two sons, Randall Hastings and Matthew Hastings; and a daughter, Deborah Hastings.

She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren; Paul, Lisa, Jennifer, Erica, Matthew, Adam, Kyle, Eric, Ryan, Nicholas, Jacob, Rachel, Hannah, London. As well as 21 great-grandchildren, Joslyn, Alex, Annabella, Tyler, Jordan, Ashlyn, Aaron, Dylan, Breona, Blake, Cameron, Kendalynn, Luna, Aurora, Julia, Paisley, Aila, Teagan, Quintan, Nora and Isla all of whom will miss her very dearly.

Blanche wore many hats in her life; a prolific jewelry and doll maker, an accomplished artist known for her beautiful photorealistic images and an inspiration to those around her. Blanche was the quintessential grandmother whose love knew no bounds. She instilled a world of love, wonder and curiosity into all of her many grandchildren.

A celebration of Blanche’s life will be held at First Congregational Church, UCC at 120 N. Jackson St. in Jackson, Michigan on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Visitation will be held from Noon to 1:00 PM, with a service beginning at 1:00 PM with a luncheon to follow in the Church reception hall.
