Barbara Ann
Brough
Jun 3, 1949 — Jun 19, 2026
Raised on the shores of Cranberry Lake in Oakland Township, Barbara Brough, also known by those that loved her as B.B.Ann, developed an adventurous spirit early in life. During her twenties, Barbara embraced her love of travel, exploring much of Europe and even making her home in Germany for a time. Those experiences shaped her lifelong appreciation for new places, cultures, and the beauty of life's adventures.
Barbara dedicated her professional life to helping others, serving as a Family Service Specialist for the State of Michigan. Her compassion and desire to make a difference were evident not only in her career but in every aspect of her life.
Music was one of Barbara's greatest passions. She loved playing the guitar and found joy in sharing that gift with others, teaching both her beloved grandson, Drake, and members of her local senior center. Whether through music, laughter, or simply spending time together, Barbara had a remarkable way of making others feel welcome, encouraged, and cared for.
Barbara found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved antiquing and thrift shopping, always on the lookout for treasures to add to her collections of miniature perfume bottles, mid-century art glass, and unique lamps. She took great pride in tending to her flower gardens, found comfort in a good book—especially novels by Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel—and enjoyed cozy evenings watching romantic comedies, true crime programs, and documentaries. Some of her favorite films included French Kiss, Just Like Heaven, and The Truth About Cats & Dogs. She also loved getting dressed up for an evening at the theater.
Above all else, Barbara's greatest joy was spending time with her grandson, Drake, who held a very special place in her heart. The moments they shared together were among her most treasured.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her artistic spirit, her sass and honesty, her playful sense of humor, and her loving, generous heart. She never hesitated to speak her mind, could laugh right along with any joke, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her kindness reached far beyond family and friends, as she faithfully supported charitable organizations including the SPCA and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A little eclectic in the most endearing way, Barbara embraced life wholeheartedly and inspired others to do the same.
Perhaps what her family and friends will miss most are Barbara's unforgettable hugs—the kind that made you feel safe, loved, and completely accepted. Her adventurous spirit, generous heart, and genuine love for others will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.
Barbara is lovingly survived by her daughter, Rebekah Hampton; her cherished grandson, Drake; her brothers, Frank Brough (Barb) and Michael Brough; her nieces, April, Amy, Jennifer, Lisa, and Jessica; and her nephew, Jason.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Kathleen (Shepan) Brough; her brother, Kenny Brough; and her nephew, Paul.
Barbara's family will forever cherish her adventurous spirit, generous heart, infectious laughter, and the unconditional love she shared so freely with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
