IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann
Cornett
January 9, 1944 – November 19, 2025
Ann Travis Cornett, born Ann Patricia Travis on January 9, 1944 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Dr. Burton C. and Grace Travis, passed away on November 19, 2025 in Kalamazoo, Michigan at the age of 81.
Ann graduated from Caro High School in 1962 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1970. She spent many years working as a realtor, a career she approached with dedication and genuine pride.
Ann enjoyed routines that made her feel settled and grounded. She liked to look nice when she went out and took comfort in keeping her home welcoming and orderly. She loved dogs and had a soft spot for hummingbirds. Nature brought her peace, and the land she shared with her husband held some of her happiest memories. Her grandchildren fondly remember riding around the property on the family golf cart, lovingly named Margo Pargo, which became one of their favorite traditions. She was also a devoted University of Michigan football fan.
On September 8, 1980, Ann married Everett Gerald “Jerry” Cornett. They later moved to Remus, Michigan, where they built their home on eighty acres overlooking Dagget Lake. Their life together was shaped by family, friendship, and the land they cared for.
Ann is survived by her children, Jerry Cornett, Robin (RJ) Venticinque, and Amy (Tom) DeLaGarza. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Haylee (Ian) Thomas, Kyler Cornett, Claire Hinton, Carrie Ann Cornett, Nicholas DeLaGarza, Jacob DeLaGarza, Christopher DeLaGarza, and Ava DeLaGarza, and by her great-granddaughter, Frances Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, and by her sister, Ruth Rankin, and her brother, Paul Travis.
Ann will be remembered for her steadiness, her sense of humor, and the care she put into the life she built.
In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ann’s name to the American Heart Association or ASPCA.
